Mississippi University for Women Joins Division 3
SUMMARY: Happy independence day! Last Thursday, the Mississippi University for Women (MUW) lost its independence as its athletics department was admitted into the NCAA's Division III level. MUW had been an independent university since they reintroduced sports in 2017. The application process started in 2019, and after four years and thousands of pages of paperwork, MUW has finally been accepted. The NCAA praised the thoroughness and completeness of their application. The school will now be joining the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Although they are celebrating Independence Day, they are also relieved to lose their independence in this regard.

Smith County flooding leads to rescues
SUMMARY: Four people were stranded in Smith County due to heavy rain overnight, with one of them being a 73-year-old. Two homes in the Louin community were taken over by high water, with one having 8 inches of water inside. Emergency officials rescued the individuals and urged anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers or J-P-D. The situation required quick action due to the rising water levels.

Sen. Wicker reiterates support for Ukraine, Israel

Boil water alert issued for 200 Simpson County customers
