SUMMARY: Hot and humid weather conditions will continue for the rest of this week with temperatures remaining high overnight. Excessive Heat Warnings are in place until later tonight and will resume tomorrow. While there may be a stray shower, the heat is the main concern. Precautions are advised for those outdoors. The weather will shift back to standard summer conditions next week. Rain chances will become more isolated by the weekend and the heat will linger, though conditions will start to improve. Next week may be more unsettled.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
