Mississippi mom believes missing son was killed, investigation continues
SUMMARY: A mother believes her missing 18-year-old son was killed after two bodies were found in Panola County, Mississippi. The mother, Lakeldra Johnson, met with Sheriff Shane Phelps who confirmed that her son Jaylon was identified by a tattoo on his left forearm. Court upholds conviction of Mississippi woman sentenced after victim dies in coma
SUMMARY: Brittany Carter's conviction for second-degree murder in connection to the death of Chornell Mayfield was upheld by the Mississippi Court of Appeals. She was sentenced to 40 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, and an additional five-year term for possession of a stolen firearm. Carter had argued self-defense during her appeal, but the court found the evidence sufficient to support the conviction. Mayfield was left comatose for two years after Carter intentionally struck her with a vehicle in 2017, eventually leading to her death. Mississippi governor signs education formula, CCID expansion bills
SUMMARY: Governor Tate Reeves of Mississippi signed the Student Funding Formula to replace MAEP, bringing $250 million to public schools. Squatted vehicles will be banned in the state. The Capitol Complex Improvement District boundaries will expand, including Jackson Academy, Spann Elementary, and McLeod Elementary. Capitol police will have primary jurisdiction in this area starting July 1, 2024.

School bus crash leaves minor injuries
SUMMARY: A school bus crash in Millport, Alabama resulted in minor injuries for the students on board. The accident occurred on Highway 96 when the bus was rear-ended by a truck.
