Jefferson County man sentenced to nearly 25 years for selling methamphetamine, possessing firearms
A Jefferson County felon has been sentenced to serve 295 months in federal prison for several charges connected to a drug trafficking scheme.
The man, 50-year-old Boris Ward, was found guilty of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon, and possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents and evidence, Ward made two sales of methamphetamine in Jefferson County on June 1 and June 13 in 2018.
After the sale, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and other agencies executed a search warrant at Ward's residence and recovered 10 firearms and over a half kilogram of 100 percent pure methamphetamine.
At the time, Ward had been previously convicted in Cook County, Illinois, of two counts of armed robbery, two counts of attempted murder, and distribution of cocaine.

Two wanted for robbing Jackson business on Ellis Avenue

New Horizon Church plans to relocate to Wingfield High

Bishop Ronnie Crudup made the decision to sell the shopping center and purchase Wingfield High School when Jackson Public Schools consolidates. The church plans to sell to a commercial retailer to boost the community economically.
