Mississippi Stories: Walt Grayson

In this episode of Mississippi Stories, Editor-At-Large Marshall Ramsey sits down with Walt Grayson about his long career as a Mississippi storyteller. Grayson is a -long Mississippian who was born and raised in Greenville. While in high school, he started his broadcasting career at a local radio station. 

After moving to after graduation, he worked at various radio stations until moving to television in 1984. He was a weather anchor and feature reporter for WLBT for over three decades before back to WJTV-12 (where he actually began his TV career as a part-time weatherman while still working full-time “across the driveway” at Jackson's WSLI radio.)

Grayson is also well known as the long-time host and a segment producer for Mississippi Public Broadcasting's Mississippi Roads. Grayson graduated from Mississippi College with degrees in history and Bible. He is married to his junior high school sweetheart, “Miz Jo” and between them they have four and four grandchildren.

Hatley defeats Hamilton in game one of 2A quarterfinals

New Horizon Church plans to relocate to Wingfield High

SUMMARY: New Horizon Church International in , MS is relocating after being on Ellis Avenue since 2009. Bishop Ronnie Crudup made the to sell the shopping center and purchase Wingfield High School when Jackson consolidates. The church plans to sell to a commercial retailer to boost the community economically. They have provided services and programs for the area and hope to improve the new to benefit the community. The decision to relocate came from a divine feeling that their time at the current location is up. They aim to elevate the neighborhood and property values with the new venture.
