SUMMARY: Typical summer heat continues with low humidity. Some clouds will clear overnight, followed by a sunny morning and possible afternoon clouds the following day. There might also be brief, light showers. As the week progresses, the usual summertime routine will return, with increasing humidity and isolated thunderstorm chances from Thursday onwards. The tropics are currently calm, but there are multiple areas to watch as tropical waves begin to form off Africa. No immediate threats are predicted for South Mississippi.

SUMMARY: Ten Army and three Air Force cadets from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) ROTC were commissioned as Second Lieutenants. The Army ceremony at Camp Shelby featured Major General Janson D. Boyles, while the Air Force ceremony on campus featured Brigadier General Mary-Kathryn Haddad. LTC Juan J. Ortiz praised the Army cadets for their leadership, and Lt. Col. Sheena Puleali'i commended the Air Force cadets for their commitment. Distinguished Military Graduate 2LT Jeremiah J. Parker expressed pride in his training and future goals. Commissioned cadets include 2LT Miruna Avram, 2LT Braxton Bailey, 2LT Jada Fairley, among others.
