$4M grant to provide better water quality to Monroe County
SUMMARY: The City of Aberdeen and Monroe County secured a nearly $4 million grant to improve the outdated water system in the Egypt Road area. The project, funded with ARPA funds and additional money from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, aims to upgrade wells and a water tank. This is expected to fix water pressure problems and enhance the quality of water in the area. The project is a result of cooperation between the county and the cities, with the goal of improving the lives of Monroe County citizens. The start date for the project is yet to be determined, but the ARPA funds must be used by 2026.
