200 Hinds County detainees expected to move to another facility
SUMMARY: In response to a gang-related disturbance, the Hinds County Detention Center in Mississippi will be making changes. Currently, there are 599 detainees in the facility. Over the weekend, a group of detainees confronted another group, prompting law enforcement agencies to respond. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or damage. The Hinds County Sheriff has announced that the facility will be entering into a contract with Core Civic, a third-party jail in Tallahatchie County. This will result in the movement of up to 200 detainees out of the Raymond Detention Center, with one housing unit permanently closing.
