1 killed 4 injured in crash on Natchez Trace

SUMMARY: A section of the Natchez Trace Parkway is closed after a deadly crash. Park rangers and Ridgeland police responded to the scene around 5:45 this morning. The accident, which occurred between Highway 51 and Interstate 55, involved a vehicle hitting a tree. One person was killed and four others were injured. A ranger at the scene described it as one of the worst wrecks he’s seen. Ridgeland Police Chief Brian Myers stated that his officers were assisting the rangers. The road remains closed as of 8 a.m. There is no information on when it will reopen.
