Your trick-or-treat path could lead straight to sex offender’s front door
SUMMARY: Mississippi does not have laws specifically regarding sex offenders and their activities during Halloween. Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins warned parents to be vigilant and aware of where sex offenders live in their area, as trick-or-treating could lead children to their front doors. Hawkins urged parents to use the Lowndes County Sheriffs Department app to access the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry and see where sex offenders live. The sheriff also emphasized the importance of not letting children go trick-or-treating alone and being aware of their surroundings. The department will have increased patrols on Halloween for extra security.
