Woman helps lost Mississippi hunter during winter storm
SUMMARY: A deer hunter in Mississippi survived a night of extreme winter weather after getting lost near Enid Lake. Slade McDonald credits his survival to a stranger who provided him with food and shelter. He had gone into the woods with a friend, lost his phone, and found himself waist-deep in water over the frozen lake. A search party was looking for him, but he eventually found his way to a woman’s cabin and used her phone to contact his mother. A lesson he learned is not to rely too much on his phone while hunting or spending time in the woods. Sheriff Shane Phelps also advises knowing your surroundings and informing someone of your whereabouts when venturing into the woods.
