SUMMARY: William Carey recently had a successful year in athletics. The baseball team made it to the semifinals of the Nai World Series, while the women’s golf team had their best ever finish at fourth place. The outdoor track and field women’s team was the runner-up in the National Tournament. Other teams such as cross country, soccer, tennis, golf, and track and field also had a great year. William Carey won the commissioner’s cup for the sixth time and finished eighth in the learfield Directors Cup. There are upcoming events to recognize coach Hoffman and break ground on a new baseball softball field house. The fall semester will also see the start of the “Making College affordable” program, offering low tuition, high scholarships, and free textbooks.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. Afternoon storms may bring gusty winds and hail, though severe weather is not expected. Monday follows a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
