SUMMARY: USM’s football season is kicking off, along with the school’s band and dance teams, particularly the Dixie Darlings. I visited a practice session to see the hard work behind their routines. The director, Whitney, explained the intense schedule, with daily practices, early workouts, and multiple performances. I even tried learning a routine from a team captain, but focusing proved challenging. Despite initial struggles, I managed to grasp some of the steps. While I need practice, I hope to one day join the Dixie Darlings on the sidelines at Southern Miss home games this season.
