SUMMARY: Folks in Wayne County are urged to slow down and be cautious for road workers’ safety. Wayne County is partnering with M-DOT to address the litter problem along highways and neighborhoods. M-DOT plans to send nearly 300 workers to help clean up highways, and the Sheriff’s Department will work with neighbors to clear litter in the area. The county is also considering enforcing steeper penalties for littering. Residents are encouraged not to throw trash on roads and can contact the Sheriff’s office to report areas that need cleaning. After the clean-up, the county will weigh the collected trash.
