Volunteers travel miles to help Columbus man fix his home
SUMMARY: Glen Spitler, a retired U.S. veteran from Columbus, Mississippi, needed assistance with his leaky roof, which caused further home damage. Despite owning his home since 1954, his insurance wouldn't cover the aged roof's repairs. United Way of the Greater Golden Triangle and volunteers from Mennonite Services traveled from Pennsylvania to help, making his home safer. Spitler expressed immense gratitude, feeling relieved he no longer has to worry about leaks. United Way Volunteer Director Quan Walker emphasized the importance of year-round community care. Potential volunteers are encouraged to join through the United Way's website. For updates, follow WCBI on Facebook and X.
