By walking ‘out of the darkness’ on Beach Boulevard, supporters for World Suicide Prevention Day try to put an end to tragic loss of life.
This event was much more than a way to support people with mental illness or suicidal thoughts, it also gave people a chance to remember those they lost.
Mississippi lost 410 lives to suicide in 2020. When over 500 participants showed up, the Gulf Coast sent a strong message showing no one is alone and suicide is preventable.
After the walk, a silent auction and raffle helped the event raise $45,000 for suicide prevention.
