Delta agrees to pay $79M to settle lawsuit after jetliner dumped fuel on schools
SUMMARY: Delta Air Lines agreed to pay $79 million to settle a 2020 class-action lawsuit after a Boeing 777-200, experiencing engine trouble, dumped 15,000 gallons of fuel over Los Angeles neighborhoods and schoolyards. Trump ends ex-Vice President Harris’ Secret Service protection early after Biden had extended it
SUMMARY: President Donald Trump has revoked former Vice President Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection, which had been extended beyond the standard six months by the Biden administration. Normally, former vice presidents receive six months of protection; ex-presidents get lifetime protection. The Biden administration granted Harris protection for 18 months, but Trump’s administration ended it early, despite no credible threats against her. Harris, a potential 2028 presidential candidate, is set to tour for her memoir “107 Days.” The decision has sparked criticism from Democrats, including Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who called it politically motivated and a safety risk amid ongoing political polarization.
