VOLLEYBALL: Hattiesburg vs. Long Beach (MHSAA Playoffs, Round One) [10/10/23]
SUMMARY: The high school volleyball playoffs are underway, with some schools already into the second round. However, for 5A, 6A, and 7A schools, it is just the first round. The Long Beach Bearcats started off the first round of the 6A playoffs by taking on the Hattisburg Tigers at home. The Bearcats had a strong start, with Dalen Johnson and Lexi Drace scoring early kills. Long Beach dominated the first set, winning 24 to 8. They went on to win the match in straight sets, winning three to nothing.

National Police Week closes with services in Washington D.C.

The Shed BBQ crowned 2024 Memphis in May Grand Champion
SUMMARY: Barbecue enthusiasts from “The Shed” traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, to compete in the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest this weekend. Participating in events such as best pork shoulder, ribs, and whole hog, they achieved significant success. The Shed won the top prize in the whole hog category and secured this year's grand championship. This victory marks their third grand championship win, bringing the prestigious awards back to the Mississippi Coast.
Following the conclusion of the 2024 Memphis in May contest on Saturday, The Shed BBQ Blue & Blues Joint will be bringing home two awards to the Coast.
