Two new CWD cases detected in Alcorn County
SUMMARY: Two new cases of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) were detected in Alcorn County, Mississippi. This brings the total number of positive CWD cases in the county to six in 2021. Since 2018, Mississippi has had 210 positive CWD cases. The disease is fatal and can be transmitted through saliva, feces, urine, or contaminated environment. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks (MDWFP) encourages hunters to submit harvested deer for testing and harvest younger bucks. Supplemental feeding and baiting are also prohibited in CWD zones. Hunters are asked to leave the heads of harvested deer at drop-off sites for further testing.

Starkville man found not guilty for embezzlement in Oktibbeha Co.

Vehicle accident claims man’s life in Alabama
SUMMARY: A car accident in Fayette, Alabama, around 2 a.m. on October 31, resulted in the death of Thomas Bellsnyder IV. The single-vehicle crash occurred on County Road 35 when Bellsnyder’s Chevy Equinox veered off the road and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was injured and airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
