Tupelo Salvation Army offers shelter from the cold – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: As temperatures drop in Tupelo, the Salvation Army provides aid for those without shelter, opening a gym for refuge when the temperature reaches 32 degrees. The facility offers water, bathroom facilities, and meals for those in need. While they have 55 beds available at the Jim Ingram Red Shield Lodge and a cold weather shelter with 18 additional beds, they have not yet needed to use the gym for extra space. Over $177,000 was raised during the Red Kettle campaign, ensuring funding for the Salvation Army’s outreaches throughout the year. With support from the community, the Salvation Army continues to provide essential services and welcomes volunteers.
