Milton: Power back on for 4 million in Florida | Florida
SUMMARY: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that electric service has been restored to four million accounts following Hurricane Milton, marking the fastest recovery for so many accounts. Approximately 170,000 accounts remain without power, especially in Hillsborough County. DeSantis emphasized that over 50,000 linemen worked diligently on repairs. Tropics update: 2 systems in Atlantic, Caribbean being watched by National Hurricane Center
SUMMARY: Meteorologists are monitoring two areas of potential tropical development in the tropics. One in the southwest Caribbean has a 30% chance of development, while the other has a 60% chance. Despite the higher percentage, the latter faces challenges due to surrounding dry air, making conditions unfavorable for growth. Both systems are expected to move toward the Leeward Islands, with a possibility of a tropical depression forming within the week. However, uncertainty remains regarding potential impacts on the U.S. as the situation evolves. Continued observation is essential as conditions change.
A system in the central Atlantic has a 60% chance of developing into a tropical depression by week’s end, while a low-pressure area in the Western Caribbean has a 30% chance of forming later this week.
