SUMMARY: Sheldon “Timothy” Herrington, Jr., accused of murdering and disposing of the body of Jimmie “Jay” Lee, will face trial for capital murder starting Dec. 2, 2024. Lee, a well-loved LGBTQ+ member, vanished on July 8, 2022, and was declared legally dead earlier this year despite his body not being found. Prosecutors claim Herrington killed Lee to hide their romantic relationship, supported by evidence like Herrington’s search history on strangulation and suspicious activity captured on surveillance. Cadaver dogs also alerted to potential remains in Herrington’s apartment and car. Herrington’s defense team denies the charges and claims the dogs were unreliable.
