Trial date set for man accused of killing still-missing Ole Miss student
SUMMARY: A trial date has been set for Timothy Herrington Jr., who has been indicted on a capital murder charge in connection with the death of University of Mississippi student Jimmie “Jay” Lee. Lee, who was last seen in July 2022, has not been found. Herrington was arrested two weeks after Lee vanished. The trial is scheduled for October 15, 2024. Police have pointed to Herrington’s cellphone history and computer searches as evidence, including conversations with Lee on the morning he went missing and searches about international travel and strangling someone. Herrington maintains his innocence.
