Tracking the Tropics: Chance of tropical disturbance in Caribbean at 60%
SUMMARY: Fox 35 News reports on tropical developments, highlighting three zones of interest tracked by the National Hurricane Center. Two zones have a low 10% chance of developing, but a significant zone with a 60% chance is under close scrutiny due to an impending low pressure system. This system, expected to form early next week, has potential to strengthen quickly due to warm ocean waters and low shear. Current models suggest varying paths, with one possibly affecting Florida and another heading towards Texas and Louisiana. The hurricane season continues until November 30, and residents should prepare emergency kits.
A tropical disturbance expected to form in the Caribbean Sea in the coming days has a medium chance – 60% – of further development over the next week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Looking for a loan? Beware of scammers impersonating legitimate companies
SUMMARY: In 2023, Americans lost $12.5 billion to fraud, with imposter scams ranking third, per the Federal Trade Commission. Sarah Geathers, 69, a victim from Volusia County, sought a loan for medical and personal needs. After applying online, she received a call from a scammer posing as LendingTree, who claimed she was approved for $1,000 to $3,000. The scammer deposited a fake $1,300 check and manipulated her into buying two $500 Walmart gift cards. Her bank later flagged the check as fraudulent. Cybersecurity expert Roger Grimes stressed everyone is vulnerable to social engineering scams. Victims should file reports, secure info, and monitor credit.
