‘Tough pill to swallow’: Lawsuit says Water Valley residents may have been poisoned for more than 50 years
SUMMARY: A lawsuit claims Water Valley residents were poisoned for over 50 years due to illegal disposal of trichlorethylene (TCE) by Holley Automotive Division, later known as Coltec, owned by EnPro Industries. This led to a “cancer cluster” with a higher incidence of cancer and other health issues. Employees were exposed without protective gear, and waste was dumped recklessly. The suit seeks justice for hundreds of victims, and more cases are expected as the investigation continues. SUMMARY: Mississippi’s only major-league affiliated team, the Biloxi Shuckers, was eliminated from the 2025 Southern League playoffs after a 4-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits in game two of the Division Series. This marks the second consecutive year Montgomery has ousted Biloxi. The Shuckers finished the season 74-64, winning the South Division first-half title. Manager Joe Ayrault, who battled and beat stage 3 colon cancer during the season, praised the team’s effort. Despite an early lead from Jesus Made’s homer and Blake Burke’s RBI single, Montgomery rallied in the eighth inning to win. Biloxi’s next season starts April 3, 2026.

Delta State officials counter rumors as investigation continues into Black student found hanging
SUMMARY: Delta State University and law enforcement held a press conference regarding the death of 21-year-old Demartravion “Trey” Reed, found hanging on campus.
