There is a low-end threat for flash flooding in the area. Temperatures will be above average over the next six days, and overnight lows will be warmer as well. The bitter cold temperatures are moving out, but rain showers are moving in, so it is advised to have an umbrella and stay safe.

SUMMARY: Asian needle ants, an invasive species from East Asia, have been spotted in at least 17 states, including Mississippi and Texas. These ants deliver a painful sting that can pierce clothing and inject venom causing severe allergic reactions like anaphylaxis, which may lead to swelling, breathing difficulties, and rapid heartbeat. At least three people in Georgia required hospitalization after stings last year. Unlike the non-dangerous Joro spider recently spreading through the Southeast, the Asian needle ant poses a serious health risk. Experts warn residents to remain vigilant to prevent these ants from nesting and spreading further across the U.S.

The Asian needle ant has been spotted in several U.S. states, including Mississippi.
