Teen duo who led police on high-speed chase captured in swamp

Both will be extradited to Alabama after their Mississippi charges are addressed.

Natchez author Greg Iles succumbs to cancer at 65

Former MMA fighter convicted after breaking wrist of son with special needs
SUMMARY: Ricquan Thomas, a former MMA fighter in Mississippi, was convicted of felony child abuse for assaulting his 12-year-old son with special needs. On July 12, 2024, Thomas struck the boy multiple times, causing extensive bruising, swelling, and a broken wrist. He failed to seek medical care afterward. The child’s mother, working out of state, alerted authorities, leading to the child’s removal and treatment at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Thomas, who has 11 children, was estranged from the victim before the visit. He faces sentencing with a minimum of five years in prison. The case was prosecuted by the DeSoto County DA’s office.
