Surgeon fatally shot by patient at Tennessee clinic: police
SUMMARY: A surgeon was fatally shot by a patient in an exam room at the Campbell Clinic in Collierville, Tennessee. The suspect, Larry Pickens, was apprehended outside the clinic and charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The patient had reportedly been threatening someone at the clinic for the past week. The victim, identified as Dr. Benjamin Mauck, was highly respected and beloved by colleagues. The clinic will be closed temporarily, and officers will remain in the area. Police Chief Dale Lane commended the clinic staff for their quick response based on active-shooter training. There is no further threat to the community.
