Morning weather forecast: 12/3/2024
SUMMARY: On this Tuesday morning, light flurries and snow showers are affecting Eastern and Southeastern Kentucky, especially in higher elevations, potentially leading to minor road accumulations. Central and Southern Kentucky roads remain mostly clear after last night’s snow. Current temperatures range from the low to mid-20s with wind chills in the teens. Afternoon clouds will begin to clear slightly, but cold temperatures will persist. Tomorrow will bring a warm-up into the 40s before a cold front arrives, with rain and a chance for snow showers. The upcoming week will see continued cold with temperatures eventually reaching the 50s by Monday.
Conditions stay cold as the arctic air continues to keep out any surrounding warm air. A few peeks of sunshine could poke through this afternoon as conditions clear out slowly.

National Weather Service launches Kentucky Winter Weather Awareness Week
SUMMARY: This weekend’s below-freezing temperatures will persist into the week, coinciding with the start of Kentucky’s Winter Weather Awareness Week. The initiative aims to promote safety and highlight winter weather scenarios, including challenging road conditions. The National Weather Service will focus on winter driving safety on Monday, emphasizing that four-wheel drive aids traction but doesn’t guarantee control. Emergency Management Services will evaluate road closures and warming centers as temperatures drop. Additionally, flood safety will be addressed due to risks from frozen ground during winter rainfall. Residents are advised to prepare emergency kits for their cars to ensure safety.
This weekend’s below-freezing temperatures are expected to continue into the new week. It’s perfectly timed that today is the first day of Winter Weather Awareness Week in Kentucky.
