State trooper airlifted after being struck by vehicle in Hancock County
SUMMARY: A Mississippi Highway Patrol trooper, Nicholas Dean, was airlifted on Friday night after being struck by a vehicle during a safety checkpoint in Hancock County. Dean was on Highway 90 when a teenager, under the influence, hit him with a vehicle. He suffered severe injuries and was transported to a Louisiana hospital. The incident occurred during MHP’s Memorial Day travel enforcement period aimed at increasing trooper presence. Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell confirmed Dean is expected to recover fully and emphasized the dangers and legal consequences of impaired driving. The teen’s identity remains undisclosed.

Mississippi well-represented with pair of players featured in SEC weekly honors
SUMMARY: Mississippi was well-represented in the latest SEC players of the week. Bray Hubbard, an Ocean Springs native playing for Alabama, was named SEC co-defensive player of the week after five tackles and two interceptions in a 38-14 win over Wisconsin. Jackson State alum Tramell Tillman wins Emmy for ‘Severance’ role
