SUMMARY: The Belhaven Blazers softball team is making their debut in the Division Three National Championship and the College World Series. A pivotal player, Kennedy Carruth, has been instrumental in their success. Carruth, the team’s ace pitcher, clinched Belhaven’s first national championship with a decisive sacrifice fly. Known for her dominance in the circle, she has pitched all five College World Series games, including four in two days. Carruth’s determination and support from teammates have been vital. As a standout grad student from Louisiana with numerous awards, she aims to lead her team against East Texas Baptist in the championship series.

The Belhaven Blazers will compete for the Division III National Championship this week in Marshall, Tx. Graduate senior Kennedy Carruth has been the go to player for the Blazers and she has stepped up to all challenges in her final year. The Louisiana native has pitched in every game during the College World Series including powering through four games in two games to lead the Blazers out of the loser’s bracket. To top it off she had the walk off hit to send Belhaven into the national championship. She gets high praise from her coach and her team but she credits her teammates most of all. That total team mentality has gotten the Blazers close to their ultimate goal. Kennedy and the Blazers will face East Texas Baptist starting Tuesday for game one of the College World Series Finals.
