Kehoe calls special session to redistrict Missouri congressional maps
SUMMARY: Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe has called a special legislative session starting September 3 to redraw the state’s eight congressional districts, focusing on making the 5th District, held by Democrat Emanuel Cleaver, more Republican-leaning. The GOP-backed plan aims to increase Republican seats from six to seven, leaving only one Democrat. Redistricting typically occurs every decade following the U.S. Census but can happen mid-decade via special sessions. The session will also address initiative petition reform. Democrats criticize the move as a partisan power grab. Kehoe emphasizes ensuring districts reflect Missouri values and voter clarity amid national Republican redistricting efforts.

Residents caught in unsafe apartment building battle
SUMMARY: Residents of Crestwood’s Forest View Apartments face confusion after a judge ordered evacuation by September 10 due to unsafe structural and electrical issues. Despite the clear court order, the apartment management claims residents can stay during repairs, causing mixed messages. Resident Daryn Stolz, given a month to vacate, is searching for a new home but frustrated by conflicting information. The property owner, Forest View JV LLC, plans to appeal the order, arguing inconsistent code enforcement since Pepper Pike took ownership. However, the city insists the evacuation stands unless the judge delays it. Residents remain uncertain and inconvenienced amid ongoing disputes.
Forestview Apartments says it expects residents can stay in their units despite an order to vacate.
