Southern Miss Professor Inducted into U.S. Hydrographer Hall of Fame
SUMMARY: Maxim van Norden, a University of Southern Mississippi (USM) hydrography adjunct professor, was inducted into the Hydrographer Hall of Fame by the Hydrographic Society of America at the U.S. Hydro Conference. With 53 years in hydrography, he’s helped students explore the field along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His career began in 1972 with the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office, where he conducted surveys worldwide. After retiring from the Navy, he led hydrography programs at USM, including the search for the Clotilda, the last slave ship. Van Norden continues to teach and encourages students to pursue the hydrography program at USM.

NCAA investigates 13 former basketball players for sports betting violations
