Southern Miss head coach Jay Ladner decries new recruiting landscape, pleads with fans to buy in
SUMMARY: Jay Ladner enters his seventh year as Southern Miss men’s basketball coach amid significant challenges, including staff changes, a roster overhaul, and financial limitations. After a successful 2022-23 season, Ladner faces pressure to improve following a tough 2024-25 campaign. The program struggles with NIL budget disparities compared to more affluent schools. Ladner acknowledges the difficulty of building a competitive roster in the current college sports environment but remains focused on overcoming these obstacles. With key assistants leaving, Ladner hopes a new hire will help attract top talent and boost the team’s chances for success in the 2025-26 season.
