Batesville woman arrested for making bombs tried to escape from jail, sheriff says

SUMMARY: Christina Willis, 27, of Batesville, accused of making homemade explosives and attempting to kill with one, faces new charges for allegedly conspiring to escape Lafayette County jail with Mark Montgomery, 48. Willis was initially arrested on August 5 after a suspicious package containing a live bomb was discovered and safely detonated in Lafayette County. A joint investigation led to her home in Panola County, where bomb materials, explosives, firearms, and narcotics were found. Willis faces charges including attempted murder, planting explosives, and conspiracy to escape. Montgomery was released on $50,000 bond.

Mississippi governor deploying national guard troops to Washington, D.C.
