Second Mississippian confirmed dead after New Orleans truck attack
SUMMARY: Two Mississippians, 18-year-old Nikyra Cheyenne Dedeaux and 25-year-old Matthew Tenedorio, were killed in a tragic truck attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, which left 15 dead and at least 30 injured. Dedeaux, an aspiring nurse, had sneaked out to celebrate New Year’s Eve, while Tenedorio worked as an audiovisual technician and was remembered for his joyful spirit. Mississippi’s Governor Tate Reeves confirmed their deaths and expressed condolences on social media. The attacker, identified as an ISIS-affiliated U.S. Army veteran, acted alone during the incident on Bourbon Street.
