SUMMARY: Fox 35’s Stephanie Buffamante provided updates from the Orange County Courthouse during the ongoing trial of Sarah Boon, who allegedly killed George Torres. Today, the jury reacted strongly to a cell phone video played in court, detailing a heated exchange between Boon and Torres. The prosecution considers this video crucial evidence of Boon’s intent. Testimony from a forensic pathologist indicated Torres suffered multiple blunt force injuries but likely died from suffocation in a zipped suitcase. Additionally, a DNA analyst found no foreign DNA, and discussions arose about text messages and Boon’s statements during her interrogation. Boon appeared engaged in the proceedings, smiling at her attorneys and taking notes.

FOX 35’s Stephanie Buffamonte joins Garrett Wymer to recap the second morning of the Suitcase Murder Trial of Sarah Boone during the lunch break, and to preview the afternoon session.

Sarah Boone is accused of killing her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, in Feb. 2020 by zipping him up in a suitcase during a drunken game of hide-and-seek. Torres was found dead in the suitcase the next day. Sarah Boone claims Torres’ death was in self-defense.

SUMMARY: A federal judge modified part of a preliminary injunction against President Trump’s election overhaul executive order. The adjustment restricts the block on assessing citizenship for voter registration forms to only 19 states that sued, not nationwide. However, this has limited practical impact since another judge blocked the mandate across all 50 states in a separate case. The change follows a Supreme Court ruling limiting nationwide injunctions. Other aspects of the initial injunction, including proof-of-citizenship and mail-in ballot rules, remain blocked. The Department of Justice continues to fight the lawsuits filed by Democratic state attorneys general and civil rights groups.
