SUMMARY: Last week, a new lawsuit was filed against the city of Jackson for allegedly breaching a contract and engaging in racial discrimination. The owners of Retro Metro, a minority-owned business, claim that the city stopped doing business with them and started renting office space from non-minority owned businesses. Retro Metro also argues that the city breached its lease agreement by not addressing building and parking lot issues and leaving 11 years into the 20-year lease. The mayor, Chokwe Antar Lumumba, claims that the city had complained about conditions to the owners multiple times before deciding to move.
