SUMMARY: Starting 1st February 2024, Mississippi anglers must have a Recreational Offshore Landing Permit (ROLP) to possess reef fish species such as snapper, amberjack, grouper, and more in Mississippi waters. The ROLP is free and supplements the recreational saltwater fishing license. It is not required for those under 16, disabled, or fishing on charter boats. Charter captains and anglers on their boats must have a valid ROLP. Anglers can register for the ROLP online and will receive a temporary permit by email and a full-year permit within 10 business days. The ROLP aims to better quantify fishing activity and is part of the state’s efforts to manage marine resources.
