SUMMARY: The Mississippi Public Service Commission will host a town hall meeting in north Mississippi on March 21 to address ongoing concerns with the Holly Springs Utility Department (HSUD), which has faced criticism for inadequate services and frequent power outages. This meeting aims to allow residents to voice their issues, with commissioners committed to finding solutions. Although Pearl has resort status permitting wine and liquor by the glass in restaurants and beer sales in stores, residents must still travel elsewhere for liquor purchases. Mayor Jake Windham, who opposed liquor stores but supported honoring the vote, expressed disappointment, emphasizing the importance of respecting citizens’ voices and preventing retail leakage.
