Proposal aims to build gas-powered turbine plant in Caledonia

SUMMARY: TVA plans to build a gas-powered turbine energy plant at the old peer plant site in Calonia, operational from 1998 to 2007. The new facility, featuring six turbine engines generating 500 megawatts, aims to create 18 to 20 full-time jobs and numerous construction jobs. This project is expected to enhance power reliability, reducing blackout risks. Additionally, Loud County is exploring solar energy as an alternative power source. Local supervisors are optimistic about the economic benefits of the project. A public meeting regarding the proposal will be held on August 15th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Calonia Community Center.
