Power line to blame for Lamar County fire – Home – WCBI TV
SUMMARY: A downed power line ignited a forest fire in Lamar County, Alabama, on Tuesday, resulting in dozens of acres burning near Beaver Creek Road, north of Vernon. Volunteer firefighters and the Alabama Forestry Commission are battling the blaze. Emergency Management advises residents to avoid the area, and a bulldozer is being used to create fire lanes to control the flames. Another woods fire is reported near Kennedy in the southern part of the county. Due to ongoing fire hazards, the Lamar County EMA is urging people to refrain from burning at this time.
