Picayune RB Dante Dowdell receives 5A Mr. Football Award

Senior running back Dante Dowdell became the first-ever Picayune player to receive the Mr. Football Award for Class 5A, fresh off the Maroon Tide’s South State championship game victory over Gautier, in which Dowdell played his best game in the biggest game of the season.

The U.S. Army Bowl All-American posted a season high 241 yards and a career high five touchdowns on 26 carries.

Dowdell has been a bell cow all year long for the Tide, currently just shy of 2,000 yards with 28 touchdowns on more than eight yards per carry.
