Pearl officials provide storm update

SUMMARY: The mayor of Pearl, Mississippi, thanked first responders for their efforts clearing debris after a storm that downed 73 trees and 26 power lines. Sadly, one woman died when a tree fell on her, and another man was injured. The city is focused on clearing neighborhoods first before reopening parks. The Director of Rankin County Emergency Operations reported 44 homes and several buildings were damaged. Police and fire chiefs praised their teams for their hard work during the storm. Efforts are underway to clean up the debris, with residents urged to report any damage and remain patient. The importance of prevention and having homeowner’s insurance was emphasized.

One person was killed as a result of Thursday’s storms in Pearl.
