Pass Christian Middle School dedicates school gym to former Pirate coach Kevin Woods
SUMMARY: Traffic is light tonight, flowing smoothly past Christian Middle School where the gym is now dedicated to Kevin Woods, a former coach and dedicated school staff member who served for over 30 years. Woods, who passed away earlier this summer, was a long-time coach in the district for basketball and football, also contributing to high school athletics and community recreation leagues. The gym’s dedication is a tribute to his legacy. His daughter, Kenyatta Jones, honors her father’s memory, emphasizing the importance of giving people their “flowers” while they’re alive and appreciating them. She believes the dedication is a further step in celebrating and thanking him posthumously for his loving service.
The Pass Christian Middle School Gym will now honor a former Pirate who dedicated more than 30 years of service to the school district.

Fireworks Safety Tips
SUMMARY: The 4th of July celebrations come with important safety precautions. In Buxy, fireworks are usually illegal except on special occasions like Independence Day. Police Lieutenant Candace Young advises treating fireworks as explosives, keeping children from using them, and staying in safe, clear areas away from people and houses. Fireworks can distress pets, so bring animals indoors to prevent them from fleeing. Boaters should avoid designated fireworks-free zones in the sound and never operate a boat under the influence. A detailed map of restricted areas is available on Buxy’s website. Expect heavy traffic near the official fireworks show along Beach Boulevard.
