Legacy Park developer says legal battle continues with Singing River Health System
SUMMARY: The development of Legacy Park in Gocha faces ongoing legal challenges from Singing River Health System. Despite a court ruling in favor of the developers in April, the health system continues to file complaints, claiming the developers are moving forward without proper approval. Dr. Sia Laka, one of the developers, argues these actions are an attempt to stall progress and hinder economic growth. While the health system has 30 days to appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court, Dr. Laka insists that Legacy Park’s development is legal and will proceed as planned, regardless of opposition.

A Legacy Park developer says Singing River Health System (SRHS) is continuing to fight against the proposed multi-use development.

However, Singing River accuses the developers of unauthorized construction, which Dr. Laka denies, stating only basic infrastructure work is underway. Dr. Laka believes Singing River intends to delay or stop the project, despite its benefits for community healthcare and economic growth. Singing River has 30 days to appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court. If delays continue, legal action may follow.
