SUMMARY: A paroled double murderer, James Williams, has been arrested for driving under the influence in Pearl, Mississippi. He allegedly crashed his car into a ditch and was later taken back into custody. Williams had been convicted of killing his father and stepmother in 2002, and despite objections from lawmakers, was paroled earlier this year. Asian needle ants spotted in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Asian needle ants, an invasive species from East Asia, have been spotted in at least 17 states, including Mississippi and Texas. These ants deliver a painful sting that can pierce clothing and inject venom causing severe allergic reactions like anaphylaxis, which may lead to swelling, breathing difficulties, and rapid heartbeat. At least three people in Georgia required hospitalization after stings last year. Unlike the non-dangerous Joro spider recently spreading through the Southeast, the Asian needle ant poses a serious health risk. Experts warn residents to remain vigilant to prevent these ants from nesting and spreading further across the U.S.
The Asian needle ant has been spotted in several U.S. states, including Mississippi.
