SUMMARY: The City of Hattiesburg has proclaimed the third week in July as Parks and Recreation Week. There are events happening to highlight the community centers and green spaces. These events include senior bingo, community clean-up, and more. There are activities for all ages, both inside and outside. The Parks and Recreation Department has been expanding programming for several years and is now reintroducing new offerings. This week is an opportunity for them to showcase what they have to offer to the community.

Monday morning marked the beginning of Parks and Recreation Week in the Hub City, and there is plenty for you to do.

SUMMARY: Parts of the region could see storms on Father’s Day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s and heat indices in the upper 90s. Afternoon storms may bring gusty winds and hail, though severe weather is not expected. Monday follows a similar pattern with scattered afternoon storms. A high-pressure system will move in by Thursday, bringing well-above-average temperatures. Heat indices may reach 107–110 degrees by Friday, especially west of I-55 in Mississippi. The week ahead will remain hot and humid, with increasingly oppressive heat expected through the weekend. Stay weather-aware and hydrated amid the steamy conditions.
