SUMMARY: Postseason baseball returns to Mississippi with Ole Miss and Southern Miss named NCAA Tournament regional hosts. Despite falling short in their conference championships, both teams earned spots based on strong resumes. Ole Miss (40-19) secured a regional at Swayze Field thanks to a deep SEC Tournament run, 20 conference wins, and a top-15 RPI. Southern Miss (44-14) continued its nine-year streak of 40+ wins and, after an 18-game winning streak, earned a regional at Pete Taylor Park despite losing the Sun Belt title. Fourteen other regional hosts were announced, with the full tournament bracket set to be revealed on ESPN2.

The Gulf Coast has a 33% chance of a major hurricane landfall, higher than the 27% average. As the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, MEMA director Stephen McCraney stresses the importance of preparedness, reminding residents that a single hurricane can cause devastating impacts and urges smart choices to stay safe.
