SUMMARY: An Ole Miss golfer is making waves on the amateur circuit in Mississippi. Ole Miss senior Kye Meeks won the Mississippi Amateur Championship on Sunday at Tupelo Country Club for the second consecutive year. The Walnut native finished with a score of -17 under, beating Ole Miss assistant coach Emerson Newsome by four strokes. Locals Brandon’s Brice Wilkinson, and Grayson Davis and Tucker Gutierrez from Madison also finished in the top 10. Meeks described his back-to-back wins as “pretty cool.” With this victory, Meeks qualifies to play in the US Amateur Championship.

Ole Miss senior Kye Meeks wins back to back Mississippi Amateur titles with a final score of -17. The Walnut native earned an exemption to compete in the US Amateur Championship in August in Minnesota.

SUMMARY: After nearly two hours of deliberation, the jury found Carly Madison Gregg guilty on all charges, including the murder of her mother, Ashley Smiley, attempted murder of her stepfather, Heath Smiley, and tampering with evidence. Gregg was sentenced to two life sentences without parole and ten years for tampering with evidence. Defense attorney Kevin Camp acknowledged the case’s difficulty and stated they rejected a 40-year plea deal offered by the state.
